What is Anti-Aging & Functional Medicine?
The science of Anti-Aging & Functional Medicine is multi-disciplinary. The fields of biochemistry, biology, and physiology are represented, as well as, the inclusion of mind/body medicine, sports medicine, molecular genetics, and emerging medical technologies. In recognizing the need for viable alternatives to traditional protocols, with Anti-Aging & Functional Medicine physicians change their focus from a disease based model to a wellness based treatment program. In other words, the physician’s focus is not to treat just the symptoms, but to look at the cause of the problem. Early detection, prevention, and reversal of aging-related diseases employing therapies and treatments to optimize wellness are the focus of our practice.
Do you work with bio-identical hormones?
Dr. Pawsat is treating many patients with bio-identical hormones (also known as natural hormones). He has brought a method of hormone replacement that is unique to the Lansing area. The treatment focus goes far beyond simply hormone replacement. By focusing on balancing of hormones along with individualized preparation of the body for hormones, he has had great success in finding treatments that are inline with his patient’s individual needs.
Do you accept my insurance?
The Center for Optimal Health does not participate with insurance plans. In order to spend the necessary time with each patient and provide individualized care we are a non-participating and out-of-network practice.
Can I submit a claim for insurance reimbursement?
Yes, even though we are out-of network many patients do receive insurance coverage for our services. After your visit you will receive an invoice that provides all of the necessary information for submitting a claim with your insurance company.
Will I receive reimbursement for the claims that I submit?
Any reimbursement will be based on the allowance of your policy for non-participating or out-of-network physician care. You will need to consult your insurance policy provider or your insurance policy handbook to determine what your policy allows for coverage.
How much do you charge for a consultation?
Your initial consultation will be $425.00. See “Services” link for more information about fees.
What happens during my initial consultation with Dr. Pawsat?
When you schedule your first appointment we start by having you submit to a personal health history which can be accessed from the home page of this website. During your visit, which generally lasts 60 to 90 minutes, Dr. Pawsat will review with you your history, address any questions or concerns, make suggestions specific to your individual concerns, and develop a plan for getting started.
How often will I have follow up visits?
Each patient is treated for their individual needs; therefore we do not have a set schedule for return visits. Your second appointment is scheduled for the purpose of reviewing any ordered test results and to begin your protocol. Additional appointments will be scheduled based on your individual need as determined by you and Dr. Pawsat. Follow up appointments are billed based on the length of your interaction with Dr. Pawsat. If for any reason you might not be able to make an office visit, telephone consultation for follow up can be arranged.
What type of testing do you use?
It is Dr. Pawsat’s belief that each patient’s needs are unique and that no one set of test or studies will be right for every patient. He will order test and studies based on his evaluation and impression, and agreed upon by the patient. Blood, saliva and urine test are common methods used for testing. Studies such as X-ray, Ultrasound, EKG, CT scans and MRI can be ordered when necessary.
